CentreBike (also known as the Centre Region Bicycle Coalition or CRBC) was formed in the spring of 2000 and has played a significant role in obtaining new bicycling facilities in the Centre Region, including bike lanes and paths, bike parking, and bike racks on CATA buses.
CentreBike was the motivating force for the 2012 regional application to become a Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC). In 2011, CentreBike worked with PA-DOT to remove side-road rumble strips that can be a problem for cyclists, and had been installed on many of the area’s rural roads. CentreBike continues to work with elected and appointed public officials through the newly formed COG Bicycle Advisory Committee (CRBAC) improve responsiveness to cyclists’ needs and awareness of the contributions that cyclists make to quality of life in the Centre Region.
